3 Years Gone…
Long Post…
Having been lapse in the maintenance of this blog for three years now, the task of getting from past to present seems daunting. It would be easy enough to say “well not much really happened†and be done with it, but that seems a bit like aggregating one laziness with another.
The following is an attempt at a “happy medium†between a digressive novella documenting the past three years, and the self same statement above: “not much happened.â€
Why?
First, one may ask, if you’ve been lapse for 3 plus years why are you two even attempting to rekindle the content of this enterprise? Well, in short, we finally have something that will require a more frequent sharing with our families than travel will allow: We’re pregnant. Well, of course, yes, Geetha is pregnant, but given the mutual impact of that, and laying the “cutesiness†of that phrase aside, it does have practical merit. So that being said, we’ve cleaned up the site, it has a new look for a new time in our lives, and now has the ability to support both more robust galleries of images as well as flash movies.
The following is an early ultrasound image of the little critter, at this stage dotingly referred as the Fava… I know beans, sprouts, and various other vegetative legume references for embryos are cliché, but what else do you call a 2 dimensional image that roughly resembles in shape and size a large lima bean? Of course, one cringes as the unavoidable mental image of Hannibal Lecter’s famous ditty…
What Transpired?
Okay, here is the nutshell of events between 2005 and our current status:
1. We’re in the same house, with nearly the same list of “to-dos†as we’ve always had. Having executed a handful of home improvement projects we are a bit more comfortable in that realm, and while neither of us will be professional carpenters, we can adequately wield a paint brush, and an occasional hammer and saw. The following image is the last of our projects: Renovation of one of our bedrooms to house a nursery… scary… This was largely a simple painting job, in a neutral yellow, but also is our first exploration of “laminate†flooring installation.
2. Work… work, work, work… Yes, we’re both still working. Geetha diligently as an implementation project manager for an enterprise CIS solution, and myself within software sales for a player in the MDMS (Meter Data Management) market. Here’s the rough bit which ultimately will need some form of resolution prior to the birthin’: Geetha continues to work at the same company where we met, located in northern Vermont, but my job (recently acquired BTW 8/07) is headquartered in the Boston area. Right now, we both travel extensively for our jobs, and further split our time between our house/home in Vermont and an apartment in the Boston Area.
3. Travel: One of the reasons we started this blog was to document our travels… We both love to travel, and like big trips… However we haven’t traveled recreationally as much as well like in the past few years as both of us have been focused, read buried, with work… That being said, there were a couple of events that required our attendance in India, namely the marriages of both of Geetha’s younger sisters… Usha was married in May of ’06, and Uma in January of ’07. I was unable to attend Usha’s, but Geetha and I both made it to Uma’s, and the pictures can be found in the gallery section.
4. Miscellany: Geetha suggested that I mention the fact that I have developed a fondness for motorcycles, and she has enabled this mid-life crisis type behavior by allowing me to procure a motorcycle… or two… My first was an ’04 HD 883 Custom Sportster… dubbed by everyone I know as a “chick†bike. But frankly I am very comfortable with my gender, and the bike was the perfect size to re-acclimate to a skill that I had not used in over 12 years… I rode the bike for the most of the first season, and once I was comfortable with it, and after a very long and uncomfortable ride over the White Mountains to visit my Dad, I knew I needed an “upgrade.†Which lead me to my current motorcycle an ’06 HD Road King Classic.
I must admit that we/I am strongly reconsidering the motorcycle thing given the impending baby-thing…
Okay… well that is our 3 years in a nutshell, and I’m hoping that if we’re consistent with our posts, we’ll fill in some of the gaps that are bound to exist within such a summary… Well let’s consider us up to date, and if you have any questions please feel free to post them… (We understand, and were reprimanded by a handful of Geetha’s school chums that we never update our site… well, please feel free to register and add your comments so we know you’re reading! That will motivate us to be more consistent in our postings!)

Here is a test comment to get things rolling…

Vanathi,
Thanks for the feedback, and letting us know that someone is actually reading this! :-) Please feel free to leave comments whenever you like. This site should be getting fairly busy over the next few months… :-) Geetha and I are still working through the logistics of the Seemandham, but we will be doing something, and will post about it here.
