India here we come…

Joey | Geetha and Joey | Monday, November 28th, 2005

Last year, Geetha and I started what we hope, fates willing, will become a family tradition of traveling over the Christmas holiday. Considering our current “childlessness,” and the fact that she is Hindu, and I am at best agnostic, the Holiday’s just don’t have the draw they used to.

Of course, I do wind up feeling a bit guilty for being away from my family for Christmas, but I think they take my absence in stride knowing that the holiday seasons have never been my favorite times of the year.

Last year we were fortunate to spend a few weeks in Ireland over Christmas, and you can see some pictures from that trip in our photo album. This year, as we have not been home since our wedding in February of 2004, we will be traveling to India to spend time with Geetha’s family.

In recent searches to find things such as car hires, we’ve stumbled across some interesting blogs out there written by westerners living in Chennai, we have added those to our blogroll, and hope you enjoy them.

We still ponder trying to find jobs in Chennai, but honestly wouldn’t know where to begin!

New Look – Old Images

We figured that we’d have some people visiting or re-visiting to track our progress, so we (Joey) borrowed a new theme that is lightweight and seems easy to use.

We have also finally added ALL of our wedding pictures, and pictures in general from our last trip to India.

They can be found in our Photo Album page or by clicking the following: Photo Albums.

Here’s a sample, hard to believe this was nearly 2 years ago!

Healthy Fermentation!

Joey | Homebrewing | Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

I am hoping that I may have been a bit pessemistic when I wrote my last post… I am fairly certain now that my hydrometer reading was probably off primarily due to the “top up” water not being fully dispersed into the wort. Within one day of brewing the beer had a nice healthy 3 inch krausen… is that the right word… I’ve been calling the head generated during primary fermentation krausen for years but when I just googled/dictionary.com’d I was unable to find that word listed aside from as a style of beer… I suppose if anyone read this it might be answered… oh woe is the life of a vainity blogger… :-)

Anyhoo think of adding a page on the Joey Murray technique for rude and quick extract beer brewing… I’m sure it would horrify purists, but I can attest that it it’s quick, easy, and generates respectable and tasty brews!

California Common coming up this weekend… perhaps photoshoot and documentation is in order?
